A renewed chapter for NLISR

A welcome message from Dr. David O. Okhakhu, Editor-in-Chief.

It is with immense pleasure and a renewed sense of purpose that I welcome you to the official relaunch of the Nigerian Library and Information Science Review (NLISR).

The landscape of library and information science is evolving at an unprecedented pace. Digital transformation, artificial intelligence, open science, research data management, digital preservation, information literacy, and knowledge management are reshaping how information is created, organised, accessed, and preserved. These developments demand scholarly inquiry, evidence-based practice, and collaborative engagement among researchers, practitioners, educators, policymakers, and information professionals. NLISR is committed to fostering these conversations by publishing high-quality research that is both academically rigorous and professionally relevant.

Our renewed vision is to establish NLISR as one of Africa's leading scholarly journals in library and information science. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of editorial excellence through a transparent and rigorous peer-review process, adherence to international publishing ethics, and the timely publication of original research, review articles, case studies, and scholarly perspectives. As an open-access journal, we also reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that quality research remains freely accessible to scholars and practitioners worldwide, thereby promoting greater visibility, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

The successful relaunch of this journal has been made possible through the dedication and collective efforts of our Editorial Board, reviewers, authors, institutional partners, supporters and the personal drive of the current Chairman Mr. Olugbenga Ezekiel. I sincerely acknowledge their unwavering commitment to restoring NLISR as a respected scholarly outlet that will contribute meaningfully to research, education, professional practice, and policy development.

As we begin this new chapter, I warmly invite researchers, librarians, archivists, records managers, information scientists, educators, and postgraduate students to make NLISR their preferred outlet for the publication of quality scholarly work. Your contributions will not only enrich the body of knowledge in our discipline but will also help shape the future of libraries, archives, and information services in Nigeria, across Africa, and beyond.

The relaunch of NLISR is more than the return of a journal — it represents the renewal of a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, collaboration, and the advancement of knowledge. Together, we can build a publication that reflects the highest ideals of scholarship and serves as a catalyst for research that transforms our profession and our society.

Thank you for joining us on this exciting journey. We look forward to your continued readership, your scholarly contributions, and your partnership as we write a new chapter in the history of the Nigerian Library and Information Science Review.
